*The Meaning of Marriage: Facing the Complexities of Commitment with the Wisdom of God  by Timothy Keller

I read this while I was single, and I probably should read it again now that I am married. Keller again nails it with driving the gospel home in the context of marriage. While he gives advice and guidance on having a successful marriage, I completely adored Christ and the good news more in light of this book.

**The Sacred Marriage: What If God Designed Marriage to Make Us Holy More Than to Make Us Happy?  by Gary Thomas

I also read this book while I was single. And I am glad I did because it gave me a realistic and truthful picture of the purpose of marriage. “Sacred Marriage reveals how marriage trains us to love God and others well, how it exposes sin and makes us more aware of God’s presence, how good marriages foster good prayer, how married sex feeds the spiritual life, and more.”

Love and Respect: The Love She Most Desires; The Respect He Desperately Needs by Emerson Eggerichs

This book hits on one of the most simple messages of love and respect in marriage, yet has profound results when the practicality of it is followed. Eggerichs discusses the cycle that love and respect plays in conflict and resolution. While this is targeted toward married couples, the concepts can be applied to how we relate to others around us.

This is a great book to help you know yourself and how you are best loved, and the same with others around you. “In the #1 New York Times bestseller The 5 Love Languages, you’ll discover the secret that has transformed millions of relationships worldwide. The Power of a Praying Wife Devotional by Stormie Omartian

This is a devotional taken from Stormie’s original book, The Power of a Praying Wife. This devotional is loaded with written prayers that can be used for guidance in praying over yourself, your husband, and your marriage. Sometimes I just open up this sucker when I don’t know what to pray. Stormie also has other versions for husbands, parents, women, teens, kids, and praying for your children.
